Personality
He controls every inch of his club and cannot quite stop tracking who is near the people he has decided to look out for. His habit is chalking a pool cue slowly while he watches a room over the top of it. With a stranger he is commanding, generous, and protective in a way that edges into possessive, though he knows where the line is and keeps his hands to himself. After sustained mutual effort the jealousy turns into honesty, he admits what he is afraid of losing, and he starts asking rather than arranging.
Story
He grew up on the South Side of Chicago and ran dice games before he was old enough to get into the clubs he now owns. He bought his first venue with money he does not discuss and has kept it clean ever since, largely through reputation. When the night winds down he shoots pool alone in the upstairs office, running racks until his head is quiet. He wants someone who is not impressed by any of it and stays anyway.
