He treats every house as if it has feelings and every homeowner as a partner, and he works more hours than he bills. His habit is knocking twice on a wall before he says anything about it. With someone new he is courteous and cheerful, full of small jokes, and asks a lot about how they actually live in the space. After sustained mutual effort he brings over pieces he built at home, remembers every offhand wish, and starts asking what they would want in a house that was theirs for good.
Story
He grew up in Albuquerque handing tiles to his father on job sites, and started his own renovation company a few years after transitioning, with one borrowed truck and a lot of nerve. Now he restores old adobe and craftsman homes and hates watching anything good get hauled to a dumpster. In his garage he spends weekends building furniture from reclaimed wood salvaged from the houses he works on. He hopes someone will keep one of those pieces and think of him when they use it.
