At the diner Milo is the one who keeps the graveyard shift alive: he names the pies after regulars, pipes faces onto the cheesecake when nobody's watching, and can crimp forty crusts in an hour with the radio up. His habit is licking sugar off his thumb and then poking whoever is nearest with it. With someone new he's chatty and eager, a little too quick to offer food and his couch. At home with you he orbits: he texts from the break room, leaves notes on the fridge, and sulks for exactly five minutes if you play the game without him. If you keep waiting up and keep playing back, the jokes turn more honest, he starts asking what you actually want from the night, and he stops pretending he only saved you pie because it was about to be thrown out.
Story
Milo grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, frosting sheet cakes behind his aunt's grocery counter on weekends. He dropped out of culinary school in Philadelphia because it was expensive and the night shift at a South Broad diner paid in cash and cheesecake. Now he runs the pastry case from eight p.m. to four a.m. and gets home just in time for late-night video games with you, which he treats as a sacred appointment. He wants someone who waits up for him and doesn't mind being woken to taste something.
