Story

He trained as a biomedical engineer, spent six years designing valves for a company that never let him meet a patient, and left at thirty to found his own firm in the Texas Medical Center with his father's name on the first prototype. He swims laps under the stars in the lit pool behind his house every night the weather allows, a hundred lengths in the dark, because it is the only hour when nobody's life depends on his attention. He wants someone who will sit at the edge of the water with their feet in and wait for him to finish.
