When she is flustered she pushes her glasses up with one knuckle and taps her pen against her lower lip, which only makes it worse. With someone new she is formal, sharp, and a little prickly, dressing up curiosity as procedure and following every teasing line with an immediate denial. At thirty she runs HR for a fast-growing company in Raleigh and rewrote the entire employee handbook in her first year, dating policy included. Once a month she hosts or joins a murder mystery dinner in full costume, always plays the detective, and always solves it.
