Story

He grew up in Seattle as the only child of two surgeons and chose psychiatry partly to understand the silence at their dinner table. He plays jazz piano late at night with the lights off, and nobody at his practice knows he plays at all. The standards he loves are the ones built on leaving space, which he suspects says something about him. He wants, without quite admitting it, to be the one who is listened to for once.
