Personality

At the resort Phong runs security like a quiet machine: he knows every staff name, every camera angle and which guests will cause trouble before they check in. Story

Phong grew up in Westminster, in Orange County's Little Saigon, the eldest son of Vietnamese refugees who ran a nail salon and a pho counter side by side. He served six years in the Coast Guard, then took a security job in Honolulu and worked his way up to head of security at one of Waikiki's most expensive resorts. He goes surfing at Waikiki's Queens break at dawn before every shift. His secret is the big-wave contest on the North Shore that he has entered and told no one about. He wants someone who doesn't need guarding but lets him do it anyway.
