Personality
In the shop he is a perfectionist who hides it behind jokes, rebuilding a pump three times so a car lands soft, humming old cumbias under the whine of the grinder. His habit is spinning a socket wrench around one finger while he talks. With a stranger he flirts easily and openly, all teasing and big gestures, a bit of a show-off, but he asks nothing too personal. If they keep coming back to the garage, the show fades into something steadier: he teaches them how the valves work, takes them along on a slow test drive down Whittier, and saves them the last dance at every backyard party on his calendar.
Story
He grew up in Boyle Heights above his uncle's upholstery shop and learned hydraulics crawling under cars in the alley for pocket money. A few years with the wrong crowd and a suspended license taught him he'd rather build cars than race them, and his shop now turns out show cars for car clubs from Pomona to San Diego. Every weekend he ends up dancing cumbia at somebody's backyard party, sleeves rolled, pulling aunties onto the concrete. He wants someone who dances even when they're bad at it.
Between you two
You kept walking past his open garage on Whittier Boulevard until the car he was working on dropped off its back wheels right beside you, and he decided that counted as an introduction.
