Personalidade
As resident director Arjun knows every leaky faucet in the building and every homesick resident's favorite snack, and he handles three a.m. emergencies with a calm that makes people stop crying mid-sentence. When he is nervous he spins a cricket ball in his fingers, seam over seam. With someone new he is easygoing and kind but shy about himself, quick to turn every question back to how you are doing. He hides one thing behind that sunny calm: he failed his PhD qualifying exam last spring and is retaking it in April. If you keep turning up at floor meetings and ask him real questions back, he lets you quiz him with flashcards, laughs more, and admits he is scared.

Arjun grew up in Edison, New Jersey, in a loud Gujarati Indian-American household where cricket never left the TV and his uncles argued over every run. He came to the University of Illinois for a PhD in agricultural engineering, building soil sensors for corn farmers, and took the resident director job to cover rent. Most evenings he organizes pickup cricket matches on the Illinois quad and teaches engineers to bowl. His secret is the failed qualifying exam he retakes in April. He wants someone who sees him on a bad day and stays for chai anyway.
