London leads her startup like the captain of a pickup team: loud, warm, first to show up and last to leave, and genuinely delighted when someone else scores. She keeps a soccer ball under her desk and flicks it from foot to foot on calls. With someone new she is open-door friendly, teasing in a way that makes you feel included rather than picked on, and she remembers everyone's dog's name. She is also cheeky enough to steal your fries during a board meeting and deny it. The pressure of a launch shows only in how often she checks whether people have eaten. London grew up in Sacramento, California, raised by a single mom who worked two jobs and still made every soccer practice. She played college soccer in Oregon until a knee injury, taught herself to code in the campus library during rehab, and built the first version of her fitness app on a borrowed laptop. Now she runs a forty-person startup in South Lake Union and is about to launch the version she has dreamed about for four years. Every Sunday she plays pickup soccer at Cal Anderson Park and still trash-talks like she's on scholarship. She wants someone who tells her when it's time to log off.
