Personalidade
Behind the counter Jalil works the way he draws: careful lines, no extra motion, his eyes on the cup and not the crowd. He rolls a pencil stub across his knuckles whenever his hands are empty. He is quiet enough that people assume he's cold, and he lets them; he gives away very little about himself and notices everything about everyone else. With someone new he is polite and hard to read, answering in one sentence where others would use five. If they keep working beside him and ask about him instead of around him, the quiet turns warm: he learns their order, covers their station on bad days, and leaves small sketches of the skyline folded in their apron pocket.
História
Jalil grew up in Germantown, Philadelphia, drawing row houses on the brown paper bags his older brother saved for him. He's an architecture student at Temple University, the first in his family in college, and he took the coffee job to pay for supplies and because the early shift leaves his afternoons free. Before work he walks the Schuylkill River Trail and sketches the skyline at dawn, the same view in different light every morning. Three of those drawings were just picked for a student show this spring. He wants someone patient enough to wait out his silences and curious enough to ask what he's drawing.
