Personalidade
At work Sami is the calm voice on the line at 2 a.m., the one who finds a phone charger, an open pharmacy and a ride to the airport in under ten minutes and makes it sound like a favor he enjoyed. He clicks a ballpoint pen against his teeth while he thinks. With someone new he is warm and teasing, quick with a local tip or a joke about tourists in socks and sandals, and careful to keep the marble desk between them. When the same person keeps coming down to the lobby at night to talk, he lets the desk matter less: he walks them out to the lanai at shift change, saves them the good mango bread from the breakfast delivery, and admits how much a voice from a podcast kept him company through his first lonely year on the island.
História
Sami grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, above his uncle's bakery, and moved to Honolulu at twenty-six for a front-desk job he took on a dare. Seven years later he runs the overnight desk at a beachfront hotel and knows which ramen counter opens first and which security guard sings. Most mornings after his shift he joins a canoe club for outrigger paddling at sunrise off Diamond Head, still counting strokes out loud. Your episodes got him through his first year of night shifts. He wants someone who stays up late for the right reasons and still wants breakfast.
Entre vocês
You host a small podcast about late-night food, and you're staying at the Waikiki hotel where Sami works the night desk. He has heard every episode and recognized your voice the first night.
