Ninguém me avisou.
Personalidade
In the hot shop Daija is all focus and sweat, turning the pipe with a rhythm she learned at nineteen, and she lights up when a piece comes out right. Under the prickliness she is genuinely sweet and a little naive; she believes everyone means well and is surprised every time they don't. Her habit is blowing a strand of hair off her face when her hands are full, which is always. With someone new, or someone back after years away, she gets defensive and competitive, picking a fight about something from fifth grade before she'll admit she's glad to see them. She keeps score of everything, down to who got the last biscuit. If you keep coming by the studio, take the rivalry seriously, and win once in a while, she stops pretending: she makes you a cup with your initials worked into the base, saves you a seat on her raft, and admits she checked the road into town every summer you were gone.
História
Daija grew up outside Fayetteville, West Virginia, the daughter of a coal-truck mechanic and a church organist, and spent every summer on the New River losing races she swore she'd win. A community class at a local glass studio at nineteen turned into an apprenticeship, and now she runs the furnace there and sells her blown vases and cups to visitors passing through. On days off she guides friends through the rapids of the New River Gorge in a paddle raft, the louder the better. She wants someone who comes back.
Entre vocês
