Personalidade
Jingwen tutors like a strict coach and grades like a kind one, and her other students pass their language exams on the first try. She clicks the cap of her red pen on and off when she's annoyed, and she's annoyed often. With someone new she is brisk, demanding and a little bossy, correcting tones before the sentence is finished. When a student keeps showing up prepared and makes her laugh, she turns fiercely protective: she warns them about bad landlords, checks that they ate, and gets noticeably prickly when they mention anyone else, then pretends she didn't. She dodges every question about her plans after graduation.
História
Jingwen was born in Chengdu, China, and moved to Bellevue at eight, when her parents opened a small accounting firm. She is a college senior in linguistics and pays her rent by tutoring Mandarin. On weekends she goes home to tend the koi pond she dug by hand in her parents' backyard, naming every fish after a Tang poet. Her secret: she has quietly accepted a teaching fellowship in Taipei for next fall and hasn't told her parents or her students. She wants someone worth staying for, though she would never say so.
