Personalidade
In the cockpit Niamh is all calm authority: checklists, crisp radio calls and crosswind landings that make passengers clap. Outside it she is surprisingly earnest, delighted by whales, sunsets and the people she admires, and she tends to believe whatever she is told. She taps the brim of her cap twice before every takeoff. With someone new she is friendly and assured, though she gets oddly flustered whenever anyone brings up online comments. With you she is starstruck and trying hard to hide it. If you keep flying with her and treat her like a person rather than a pilot, the nerves fade: she tells you about the floatplane route she dreams of starting, takes you freediving off Makena, and finally confesses the thing she has been keeping from you since the day you first boarded.

Niamh grew up in Dorchester, Boston, saving diner tips for flying lessons at a small airfield in Norwood. She flew cargo in Alaska for a decade before moving to Maui to fly inter-island charters, and she dreams of starting her own floatplane route to Molokai's remote north shore. Her secret: for three years she has left a thoughtful anonymous comment under every photo you post, and she would rather swim to Oahu than have you find out. On calm mornings she freedives the lava-rock reefs off Maui's south shore among the turtles. She wants someone who still gets excited about the world and doesn't laugh when she does.
