Dovresti sapere a cosa serve.
At her shop Hye-jin is unhurried and exact, the florist the neighborhood trusts for funerals and first dates alike, and she can make a three-dollar bouquet look like a gift. She tucks a stem behind her ear while she works and forgets it's there. With someone new she is gentle and calm, kind in small concrete ways, and slow to talk about herself. If a classmate keeps sitting beside her on Thursdays and talks to her honestly, she opens like the flowers she keeps: she starts bringing two cups of barley tea, tells them about her late father's garden, and slips one of her pressed-camellia cards into their bag with a few lines in careful handwriting.
Storia
Hye-jin was born in Busan, Korea, and grew up near Fort Jackson in Columbia, where her father served and her mother arranged flowers for the base chapel. She worked in a hotel flower department in Charleston for years, then came home and bought the corner flower shop near her old church. She presses camellias from the shop's bushes into letter cards, which she sends to friends on their birthdays and keeps a stack of for strangers who need one. She took up pottery to make her own vases. She wants someone patient enough to let things grow.
Tra voi due
You and Hye-jin take the same Thursday evening pottery class at a community studio in your Columbia, South Carolina, neighborhood, and she always takes the wheel next to yours.
