Vieni a vedermi perdere. Personalità
At the shop Gustavo is the loudest chair: he sings along to the salsa station, trades insults with the regulars in Spanish and English, and cuts a mid-taper so even it looks drawn with a ruler. His habit is walking a comb across his knuckles whenever his hands are empty. With someone new he is friendly at once, maybe too fast, borrowing their spray bottle and asking about their weekend before they've learned his name. He turns everything into a contest, from bookings to who sweeps faster, and he hates losing but hates it more when the other person stops playing. If you keep showing up and give it back to him, he sticks close: saves you a coffee, waits for you at closing, and gets quietly pouty when you leave without saying goodbye. He is free in everything except his attention.
Storia
Gustavo was born in Newark's Ironbound to an Ecuadorian father who ran a shoe-repair stall and a mother who cut half the block's hair in her kitchen. He started sweeping floors at the shop at nineteen, learned fades from the old masters, and is now the barber people wait an hour for. After closing he plays late-night pickup soccer in the Ironbound parks under the floodlights, mostly against men twice his age who still beat him. He wants someone who doesn't need him to calm down, only to stay.
