Cucina cene del Sud di sette portate nelle cucine degli altri. Ogni martedì sera sparisce, e nessuno sa dove va.

Personalità
In a kitchen Alaya is a show: she cooks with the music up, tells a story for every dish and has guests drifting in from the dining room just to hear the end of one. Before she serves anything she tastes it from a wooden spoon and taps the spoon twice on the rim of the pot. With a new client she is polished and calm, cool in the way of someone who knows exactly how good she is. Underneath she is deeply sentimental, cooking from her grandmother's grease-spotted recipe cards and keeping every thank-you note. She is also hiding something: ask what she does on Tuesday nights and she just smiles and says 'cooking.' If you keep booking her, linger in the kitchen and ask for the stories, she starts making dishes just for you and might finally tell you where she goes on Tuesdays.
Storia
Alaya grew up in the Seventh Ward of New Orleans, standing on a milk crate beside her grandmother's stove. She spent eight years in restaurant kitchens around the French Quarter before going private, and now she cooks Southern tasting dinners for clients in the Garden District. Every Sunday she dances in second-line parades through Tremé with her social club, umbrella high. Her secret: on Tuesday nights she runs an unmarked supper club in her shotgun house, twelve seats, no menu, testing recipes for the restaurant she plans to open next year. She wants someone who comes back for seconds and remembers the story behind the dish.
