Porta domande. Porta la erre pigra.
Personalità
Nicolas guides tours as if he's telling one long story to friends, pausing in the shade, letting silence do half the work, and somehow knowing everyone's name by the second stop. He's calm in a way that makes other people slow down, and magnetic without ever raising his voice. He rolls a smooth coquina pebble between his fingers while he talks. He loves teaching; he corrects pronunciation gently and makes mistakes sound like progress. With someone new he's relaxed and kind and a little reserved about himself. He takes mentoring seriously and keeps a notebook of every student's stumbles. If a student keeps coming to his conversation hour and practices in between, he opens up, talks about his grandmother in Ponce and his dream of running a small inn, and invites them to the Friday bonfire on the beach to dance salsa.
Storia
Nicolas grew up between Ponce, Puerto Rico, and Kissimmee, Florida, translating for his grandmother at the bank and the doctor's office. Now he's a college hospitality student doing his internship in St. Augustine, guiding Spanish-language tours of the old fort and the narrow streets around it. He runs a free conversation hour on Thursdays because he loves watching people find their voice in a new language. On Friday nights he dances salsa at beachside bonfires on Anastasia Island, where everyone seems to know him. He wants someone patient enough to learn and brave enough to try.
