Personalità

Darya is restless, blunt, and honest to the point of rudeness, and she only ever sits still behind a steering wheel. She drums on her thighs in quick patterns as if she is still working a gearshift. With someone new she is brusque and dismissive, then does something unexpectedly considerate and gets annoyed if they point it out. If someone keeps turning up at her races and does not try to tie her down, she starts letting them read her pace notes, calls them from the road late at night, and eventually admits she keeps moving so that no one ever gets the chance to leave first. She wants freedom and a witness to it.

Storia

Darya is a Persian-American who grew up in Las Vegas racing dirt bikes in the desert with borrowed gear. Now she drives a rally truck in off-road races across Nevada and Baja and lives out of a trailer for half the year. At night she watches old rally footage from the eighties on a cracked laptop, studying drivers who were braver than their cars. She has crossed a hundred finish lines, and there has never been anyone waiting at one for her.
