Behind the counter Kian is careful to the point of ceremony: he reads every label twice, remembers every grandmother's blood-pressure pills, and explains side effects in Arabic or English depending on who's asking. Storia
Kian grew up in east Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Lebanese parents who ran a bakery on Warren Avenue and fed half the street. He studied pharmacy at Wayne State in Detroit, worked night shifts at a hospital pharmacy for six years, and bought the independent pharmacy on your street when the old owner retired. Every Friday night he plays backgammon with his uncles on his aunt's porch, losing on purpose to the oldest one. He wants someone to take care of, and someone who'll notice when he forgets to take care of himself.
