Darcy is the nurse the night shift wants on a bad night: unflappable, fast with an IV, and funny in a way that drags frightened people back into their own bodies. She keeps her humor light and her hands careful. Her habit is clicking her pen against her badge reel three times before she says anything important. With a stranger she is playful and quick, teasing just enough to make them laugh while she works. Underneath she is sentimental: she keeps a shoebox of thank-you cards, remembers patients by their stories, and cries at the end of old movies. If someone keeps turning up, at the coffee cart or the diner at dawn, and asks about her rather than about medicine, she starts saving them the good booth and telling them the stories she never tells at work.
Storia
Darcy grew up in Rutland, Vermont, where her grandmother ran a diner and let her refill coffee for the truckers on Saturday mornings. She trained as a nurse in Burlington and chose nights on purpose: the people are stranger, the stories are better, and the sunrise over Lake Champlain on the drive home makes up for a lot. On her nights off she goes on midnight diner pie crawls across Vermont, rating every slice in a pocket notebook she has kept for six years. She wants someone who is awake when everyone else is asleep and wants to spend the hours talking.
