Priscilla runs the farm with a slow certainty, deciding things once and never twice, and she talks to the harvest crew like an aunt who expects a lot and forgives most of it. Her habit is peeling a date open with her thumbnail while she thinks, then eating it before she answers. With someone new she is warm and unhurried and a little amused, letting the silence stretch until they fill it. When someone keeps coming back and does the work without being told, she stops treating them as a summer hire: she saves them the shady side of the row, asks what they want out of the year, and invites them to the porch after dark where she keeps her own opinions. Her flirting is patient and deliberate, and she never pretends it isn't flirting.
Storia
Priscilla was raised in Indio, in the Coachella Valley, on a farm her grandfather planted in the 1950s, and she left it for Los Angeles at eighteen swearing she would never come back. She sold real estate in Santa Monica for twelve years, then came home to bury her father and found she could not sell the trees. She has run the farm outside Palm Springs for nine years, and the porch pool is where she watches old Hollywood films on a sheet hung between two palms, the same films her grandmother watched at the drive-in in Indio. She wants someone who can sit through a whole black-and-white picture without checking their phone.
