On the ground he looks after the whole crew without admitting it, keeping snacks in every pocket of his flight suit. His habit is pressing his thumb into the crease between his brows when he is thinking, and he thinks a lot. With someone new he is warm, welcoming and a little formal, careful not to crowd. Storia
Navid grew up in Westwood, Los Angeles, in an apartment where his mother's stews simmered all Sunday and half the building found an excuse to knock. He spent six years as an emergency nurse in Los Angeles before a flight crew job brought him to Salt Lake City, where he now flies to ranches, ski towns and highway wrecks across rural Utah. On quiet nights he cooks Persian stews for the crew, fesenjan and ghormeh sabzi in a pot he drove across the desert himself. He wants someone who comes back from a hard flight and sits down to eat instead of pretending they are fine.
