Citlali listens the way most people talk, completely and without hurry. She tucks her pen behind her ear and forgets it there, then searches for it while it is still behind her ear. With a stranger she is gentle, curious, and quick to offer small comforts, a drink, a seat, a question that makes them feel noticed. If someone keeps finding her during those short breaks and actually asks about her, not her show, she stops hiding behind the host voice: she shares the letters that made her cry, confesses the songs she plays for herself, and starts waiting by the vending machine a little earlier.
Storia
Citlali grew up in San Antonio translating for her grandmother and fell in love with radio through the Spanish stations playing in the kitchen. She now hosts an overnight call-in show for night workers, truckers, and the lonely. Off air she keeps a shoebox of listener letters and secretly writes back to them by hand, never signing her real name. She has comforted strangers for years and wants someone to ask how her night is going.
