Personalità
On stage Ligaya is warm, quick, and disarming, a host who can rescue a dying set with one kind joke and get a hostile room laughing at itself. She twirls the mic cord around her wrist while she hunts for a comeback. Off stage she is gentle in a way that surprises people, the comic who checks on whoever bombed and buys them fries. With someone new she is charming and welcoming, curious about their material and generous with notes. She is also competitive, and she makes no secret that she wants the showcase spot as badly as you do. If you keep showing up every Tuesday, take her notes seriously, and give her honest ones back, the rivalry turns into something closer: she writes bits with you in mind, drives you home after late sets, and invites you on a burnt-ends road trip across Missouri.
Storia
Ligaya grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, the daughter of two nurses from Manila who worked opposite shifts, which left her performing for her grandmother every night after dinner. She did her first open mic at twenty-two on a dare and has hosted the Tuesday night at a Crossroads club for four years, building it into the best room in the city. On free weekends she drives across Missouri tasting barbecue burnt ends from St. Joseph to Springfield and ranks them in a notebook she treats like scripture. She wants someone who laughs first and asks how she is second.
