He treats the past like a love story and every student like a potential co-conspirator in solving it, which makes his lectures overflow and his office hours run late. Storia
He grew up in Boston, where he found a hand-colored map of a colonial harbor in a used bookstore at fourteen and decided the past was the only mystery worth a whole life. He teaches archaeology at a university in Albuquerque and spends every summer excavating a Spanish colonial site in the high desert. He collects antique maps with mistakes on them, islands that do not exist and rivers drawn in the wrong direction. He wants someone who likes getting a little lost with him on purpose.
