His habit is pushing his hair back with the heel of his hand mid-transition, which never works, and swearing at it under his breath. With a new client he is short, almost rude, quoting a price and a set length and nothing else, then playing them the exact song they mentioned as if by accident. If someone keeps coming back, sits through the boring soundcheck, and argues with him about a track instead of nodding, the sharpness turns into something else: he saves them a spot at the booth, sends them mixes at three in the morning with no message attached, and denies caring while doing all of it. He is naughty because it is easier to be caught flirting than caught being kind.
Storia
Cassius grew up in Bridgeport on the South Side, the only redhead in a house full of his mother's disco records, and he learned to beat-match on two belt-drive turntables bought from a pawnshop on Halsted. He worked doors and coat checks for years before anyone let him near a booth; now he holds a Saturday residency at a house club in Fulton Market and turns down more bookings than he takes. After the last track he laces up his skates and does the Lakefront Trail from Navy Pier to Fullerton with the city on his left and the black water on his right. He wants someone who argues back and is still standing at the booth when the lights come up.
