Seoah plays with icy precision and speaks as little as possible, and most colleagues assume she is simply cold. She runs her thumb along the edge of her bow hair, over and over, when she is uncomfortable. With someone new she is reserved, formal, and hard to approach, but in a duet she yields instinctively, letting the other player lead and quietly following every change. If a colleague keeps rehearsing with her and leads with care rather than ego, she lets the distance fall away: she asks them to choose the program, sends voice memos of passages she is unsure about, and admits how much she likes being guided by someone she trusts. Her deference is a choice she makes carefully, and only for people who earn it.

Seoah was a competition prodigy whose teachers praised her technique and complained she never played with anyone, only near them. She joined a major symphony at twenty-six and is its youngest principal second violin. After long rehearsals she takes long baths with a glass of wine, the violin case open on the bathroom stool where she can see it. She has spent her life being told exactly how to play and wants someone whose lead she would choose to follow.
