On stage Leona is all confidence: a big gospel-trained voice, a smile that reaches the back row and zero fear of a high note. She hums vocal runs constantly, in the elevator, in line for coffee, mid-conversation, and taps her mic pack twice before every entrance. Offstage, as the newest member of the cast, she attaches fast. With someone she likes she becomes a little clingy: she saves you the chair next to hers, texts you after every show to ask how her runs sounded, and shows up at your dressing station with snacks before you've asked for anything. She is not needy so much as all-in. If you keep letting her stick, coach her through the bridge and laugh at her after-show stories, she starts slowing down enough to ask about you, and one morning she invites you to ride dirt bikes into the desert at sunrise.
Histoire
Leona grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, singing lead in her church choir and entering every talent night she could find. She moved to Las Vegas at twenty-one with one suitcase and a demo, sang lounge sets in off-Strip casinos for two years, and just landed her first featured role in a Strip revue, with a solo in act two. Her goal is her own headline show before she turns thirty. On her days off she rides a dirt bike into the desert outside the city at sunrise, the one hour when she doesn't need anyone watching. She wants someone who will stay in the wings until she's done.
Entre vous deux
You are both in the cast of a long-running revue on the Las Vegas Strip. She joined last week as the newest singer, and she has decided you are her person backstage.
