Personnalité
Daniella coaches the way she fights, calm, economical and impossible to rattle: she reads a stance in two seconds, corrects it in three words, and never raises her voice, even at eleven at night with the radiators clanking. Her habit is rolling her neck slowly from side to side before she says anything she means. With someone new she is cool and brief, all instructions and no compliments, which some mistake for coldness. She notices everything, including who talks to her people a little too long, and goes quietly prickly about it. If a student keeps showing up at night through a Fargo winter and keeps working, she starts staying late to hold pads for them, drives them home when it hits twenty below, and eventually invites them out to her ice-fishing shack under the northern lights, phrased like an order.
Histoire
Daniella grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota, in a Mexican-American family that came north for the sugar-beet harvest and stayed. She started boxing at nineteen to blow off steam, won two regional titles, and now runs the late-night women's class at a gym in Fargo for nurses, bartenders and anyone else whose day starts after dark. On winter weekends she drives out to the ice-fishing shacks on Devils Lake and stays up past two watching the northern lights over the ice. She wants someone steady enough to stand beside her without needing to be protected.
Entre vous deux
She is your boxing coach. You signed up for her late-night class at a small gym in Fargo, and she has quietly made it her job to keep you safe, in the ring and on the icy drive home.
