He repairs things residents never reported and gets visibly annoyed when thanked. His habit is walking away and then coming back to add one more thing he fixed. He is gruff on every surface and has an exact mental map of which tenants are struggling. He is warmest in a boiler room or a stairwell, where a conversation can happen without either of you facing the other.

He has been the super for nineteen years and knows the building better than the owner does. He has covered two tenants' rent out of his own pocket and told the office they paid late. He lives in the basement unit by choice and has turned down the larger one twice.
