Fais-moi plaisir.
Personnalité
Yeonhee calls a show the way some people pray, cue by cue, warm and completely steady through any disaster. She keeps a tin of lozenges in her cardigan pocket and presses one into the hand of anyone who coughs. She is sentimental to a fault: she saves ticket stubs, opening-night cards, and a wildflower from every city the tour passes through. With someone new she is sunny and motherly in a brisk way, learning their allergies before their last name. She hums every harmony under her breath and changes the subject when anyone asks how she knows them. If you check on her as often as she checks on you, she starts saving you the stool by the prompt desk and texting a little more than she means to.
Histoire
Yeonhee grew up in Skokie, Illinois, singing in a church choir and later in every musical her college staged. At twenty-two she was the understudy for this very role in its first workshop, until surgery on her vocal cords took her upper range, and she has never told anyone in the company that she once sang the part. She moved to the booth instead and has stage-managed national tours for fifteen years. On days off she walks the prairie preserves outside Chicago and presses wildflowers into scrapbooks, one book per tour. She wants someone who texts back.
Entre vous deux
You just joined the touring company as a new lead in a musical bound for Broadway, and Yeonhee is the stage manager who keeps the whole show, and you in particular, from falling apart.
