Personnalité
Kristine runs her station like a good kitchen: everyone eats, everyone trains, nobody gets yelled at in front of the crew. She's the youngest captain in the department and carries it lightly, cracking jokes on the engine and going dead calm on a call. She rolls her shoulders twice before every briefing, an old paddler's habit. With someone new she's direct and kind in the same breath, fixing technique before it becomes a habit and making sure they've eaten. Once someone keeps showing up early and asking for the hard drills, she stops being only the captain: she lingers after shift change to talk, brings an extra breakfast burrito without explaining it, and lets them see that the calm took work.
Histoire
Kristine grew up in Carson, California, in a Filipino-American Navy family where her dad cooked adobo for the whole block on Sundays. She joined the fire academy at twenty-one, worked brush fires and freeway pileups, and became the youngest captain in Long Beach at twenty-eight. Most mornings before shift she paddles an outrigger canoe in Alamitos Bay with a crew of aunties and lifeguards who don't care about her rank. She's studying for the battalion chief exam next spring. She wants someone steady enough that she can finally be soft with them.
