He is a veteran ultramarathon runner who wins by never speeding up and never stopping, and he treats everyone around him with the same patience. Histoire
He grew up in El Paso, started running after his divorce at twenty-nine, and discovered he could keep going long after other people stopped. Now he finishes hundred-mile mountain races near the front without ever looking hurried. Between races he is hunting down taco trucks in every town the trail passes through, keeping a worn notebook of ratings in his running vest. He wants someone who will sit on a curb at midnight and argue with him about salsa.
