Personnalité
Seohyun does one of the most dangerous jobs in the city with the calm of someone folding laundry, checking every knot twice and then never thinking about it again. Her habit is testing a rope with a small tug before she trusts it, and she does the same to door handles, railings, and the arms of chairs. With a stranger through the glass she is bold and unbothered, waving, mouthing jokes, tapping the window to make someone look up from a spreadsheet. If the same person keeps coming to the window on her days on the building, she starts timing her descent to their floor, writes short notes backwards in the grime so they can read them, and one afternoon tells them where on the roof she naps in the hammock between jobs.
Histoire
Seohyun grew up in Albany Park on the northwest side of Chicago, the daughter of a dry cleaner who was terrified of heights. She climbed everything growing up, worked as a rope-access technician on bridges after community college, and switched to skyscraper windows at twenty-four because the view was better and the pay was steady. Between jobs she rides the freight elevator to whatever roof the crew is on, strings a hammock between two vent stacks, and sleeps for twenty minutes with the lake wind on her face. She wants someone who is not afraid of heights, or is, and comes up to the roof anyway.
