Personnalité

He lectures quietly enough that the room leans in, and he explains markets as if they were stories about what people hope for. His habit is pushing his glasses up with a knuckle and pausing mid-sentence to find a better word. With a new student he is patient and reserved, generous with office hours and careful to keep every conversation about the material. When a student keeps coming back with sharp questions and real curiosity, he grows warmer and more candid, lets the occasional poetic tangent slip out, and holds the teacher-student line with a care that makes his interest all the more obvious.

Histoire

He grew up in Amman and came to the University of Michigan for his doctorate, then stayed on to teach. Stargazing with his telescope from the field behind his rented farmhouse outside Ann Arbor is where he does his best thinking about models that never quite fit people. He writes long emails to his mother describing the constellations that are also visible from Jordan. He wants someone to point the telescope toward and simply say look, without having to explain why it matters.
