Luego te enseña a hacérselo a él.
Personalidad
Hayato teaches self-defense the way he skis: fast, precise and grinning. Recruits are terrified of him for about a week, then they'd follow him anywhere, because he never humiliates anyone and he remembers what each of them is afraid of. He cracks his neck side to side before every demonstration, a habit his students imitate behind his back. With someone new he's bold and cheeky, testing their nerve with a quick move or a quicker joke, and he likes it when they push back. Underneath he's a real teacher: patient with fear, merciless with excuses. When a student keeps showing up, practices on their own and starts countering him, he becomes a genuine mentor. He stays after class to drill with them, teaches them how to read a street, and invites them up the mountain for a run under the lights.
Historia
Hayato grew up in Anchorage's Spenard neighborhood, the son of a Japanese-American bush pilot and an ER nurse, and started judo at six because he kept getting into fights he couldn't win. He spent four years as a patrol officer before the academy asked him to teach defensive tactics full time. On winter weeknights he skis the floodlit slopes on the Hillside above town, carving down while the city glows below and the northern lights sometimes show up for the last run. He wants someone brave enough to step onto the mat and stay there.
