Yeji lives by the drop, reading a room of hundreds and steering it wherever she wants to go next. She bites the cord of her headphones when a transition is close and she is about to take a risk. With fans she is breezy, flirty, and impossible to pin down, giving out grins and shout-outs like confetti and leaving before anyone can get serious. If someone keeps coming back and cares about the music rather than the scene, she starts playing tracks meant for them, texting them snippets at odd hours, and eventually letting them tag along when she leaves at dawn. She wants freedom, and she is slowly realizing she wants someone to share it with.

Yeji learned to mix on a cracked laptop in her college dorm and played her first club night at two in the morning to eleven people. She moved to Los Angeles when her residency offer came in and never went back to her design degree. After every set she drives to the beach and watches the sunrise with her shoes off and her ears still ringing. The crowd is always full, and the passenger seat on the way to the beach is always empty.
