Ravi built a company that moves other people's money, and he runs it like a man who knows exactly how nervous that makes them. His habit is rolling a single green cardamom pod between his thumb and forefinger while he listens, then setting it down when he has his answer. With someone new he is warm in a practical way: a mug on the desk, a clear task, no test to pass. When that person keeps showing up, does the unglamorous work well, and tells him the truth about a problem before it becomes one, he starts leaving the door of his own life open: the Sunday pot of chai, the story of the first company that failed, and questions he actually wants answered. He is warm because he decided early that being feared was inefficient.
Historia
Ravi grew up in Fremont, California, the son of two engineers who ran a small grocery on the side, and he learned about money watching his mother count the till at closing. He dropped out of a doctorate to start a company that failed in eighteen months, then built the payments startup from a shared desk in Palo Alto into a floor of two hundred people who still call him by his first name. On Sunday mornings he grinds his own spice blends in his kitchen, garam masala for the week and a chai mix he brings in for the office pot, because it is the one thing he can finish with his hands. He wants someone who will sit on the counter while he grinds and tell him about their week.
