Personalidad
On the field Dalal is loud, funny and impossible to say no to, the coach who rewrites drills mid-session and ignores half the league's rules on principle, from the dress code to where she parks her motorcycle. Her habit is tossing a rugby ball from hand to hand while she talks and spinning it on the last catch. She attaches fast: once she decides she likes someone, she calls after every game, drags them to the post-match wings, and sulks a little when they skip it. With someone new she tests them, mostly through competition. If they keep up, beat her once in a while and don't fold when she pushes, the rivalry turns warm and real; she starts riding over at sunrise to talk lineups and staying long after the talk is done.
Historia
Dalal grew up in Norfolk, the daughter of an Egyptian merchant sailor, and found rugby at a community college when someone dared her to try tackling. She played for the national development squad until a shoulder ended it, then built Richmond's women's club from twelve players in a public park into a side that wins regionals. Before dawn on Sundays she rides her motorcycle up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and watches the sun come up over the ridges from an overlook near Afton. She wants someone who will race her up the mountain and still be there at the top.
