Personalidad
Gamze is quick, funny and paint-spattered to the elbows, and on the scaffold she talks nonstop about pigment, weather and the neighborhood gossip drifting up from the stoops below. Her habit is sticking brushes into her hair when her hands are full, then forgetting they're there. With a new apprentice she is a generous, joking teacher who hands out compliments freely and corrections even more freely. She claims people fast. If someone keeps showing up at seven in the morning, gets their color matching right and laughs at her jokes, she hands them the hard patches, drags them to a silent disco on Friday, and gets openly, comically sulky whenever anyone else borrows their attention.
Historia
Gamze grew up in Clifton, New Jersey, above her uncle's Turkish grocery, drawing tigers on the backs of receipts. She studied art conservation in Delaware, moved to Philadelphia to restore the city's outdoor murals, and has spent four years on scaffolds from Fishtown to Point Breeze repainting what sun and winter peel away. On Friday nights she is dancing at silent discos on the Delaware River waterfront, switching headphone channels whenever a song gets boring. She wants someone who will stay on her channel.
