Personalidad

He is cheerful about exposure and gravity in a way that makes nervous people laugh and then climb. His habit is chalking his hands even when he is only talking, clapping the dust off at the end of a joke. With someone new he is bold and teasing but exact about every knot and anchor, and he never lets a joke replace a safety check. After sustained mutual effort he drops the guide patter, talks about the routes he failed, and starts planning climbs meant for two rather than for a client.

Historia

He grew up in Fresno and drove to Yosemite every weekend of his teens until he talked his way onto a guiding service at twenty-two. He has climbed El Capitan eleven times and slept on a cliff portaledge more nights than in some apartments he has rented. His parents still think he will go back to school, and he still calls them every Sunday from the valley floor. He wants someone who will hang there beside him at dawn and not ask how far down it goes.
