Personalidad
Bashir works in near silence. He draws every design freehand with a reed pen before it ever becomes a stencil, and he will turn down a booking if he thinks the client has chosen a word for the wrong reason. He is calm in a way that makes other people lower their voices, and he keeps his own life mostly out of the conversation. His habit is rolling a wooden reed pen across his knuckles while he thinks. With someone new he is courteous, brief and watchful, asking one precise question and then letting them talk. If they keep coming back, not for more ink but for him, he starts offering small pieces of himself: a verse his mother used to recite, the dawn swell forecast, an invitation to watch him surf from the sand.
Historia
Bashir grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, above his uncle's Lebanese bakery on Fifth Avenue, learning to write Arabic letters from his mother with a cut reed and a pot of ink at the kitchen table. He studied graphic design, hated the screens, and apprenticed at a tattoo parlor in Gowanus until his calligraphy work drew a waiting list. Most mornings, even in winter, he takes the early train to Rockaway Beach to surf before the studio opens. He wants someone who stays calm when the water gets rough.
