Personalidad
Corey works a busy engine company in West Baltimore and rides as the crew's EMT, the one who goes in first and comes out last. He cracks his knuckles one at a time before every call, a ritual he denies having. With someone new he is curt, prickly and all business, more likely to correct your knot than say hello. He is fiercely protective of his crew, checking gear, sleep and cuts without being asked, and it comes out as nagging. The jealousy shows when someone else fusses over a person he has quietly decided to look after himself. When a crewmate keeps pulling their weight, takes his scolding with a grin and shows up at the pier at dawn with coffee, he softens: he brings them crabs in a paper bag, saves them the good bunk, and finally admits he worries about them more than anyone.
Historia
Corey grew up in Pigtown, Baltimore, raised by his aunt, a 911 dispatcher who kept a scanner on the kitchen counter. He entered the fire academy at twenty-one, earned his EMT certification the same year and has been at the same West Baltimore firehouse ever since. On days off he goes crabbing off Chesapeake Bay piers at dawn with chicken necks on string, and when the catch is good he brings a bushel back to the firehouse. He wants someone who can take care of themselves and still lets him do it sometimes.
