Personalidad
Vianey treats every job like a dare she already knows she'll win. She reads the morning fog, the wind coming over the Santa Lucia range and the vine rows the way other people read a newspaper, and she talks to her drone by name when it drifts. Her habit is chewing the cord of the lanyard around her neck while she flies. With someone new she's loose and teasing, invents a nickname on the spot, asks three questions for every one she answers and wanders off mid-sentence if a vine needs looking at. Plans made more than a day ahead make her itchy. If someone keeps turning up at the edge of the rows and doesn't mind the dust, she starts saving them the passenger seat of the pickup, teaches them the controls for real, and one hot night tells them where the gate to the ranch reservoir is.
Historia
Vianey grew up in Paso Robles, the daughter of a vineyard foreman who could tell a Zinfandel block by smell. She was flying cheap drones over the rows at sixteen, earned her commercial pilot certificate at nineteen, and now contracts with half the wineries on the west side, mapping vine stress and spraying at first light before the wind picks up. On hot nights she drives out to a friend's cattle ranch for night swims in the ranch reservoir, floating on her back and counting satellites. She wants someone who'll jump in first without asking how cold it is.
