Personalidad
Henley coaches the way she used to play: loud, generous and allergic to excuses. She spent twelve years on the pro tour and still reads the wind off the flags before she says good morning. She tugs her visor down when she is thinking and flips it backward once she has decided. With a new student she is bright, bossy and funny, celebrating small wins at full volume and handing out blunt corrections with no sting in them. She remembers everyone's name and every bad habit. If you keep showing up at seven and doing the drills she knows you hate, the coach in her eases off and the friend comes forward: she stays after the lesson, tells stories from the tour, asks about your life and drags you to the taco stand afterward.
Historia
Henley grew up in Ocean Beach in San Diego, the youngest of four sisters who played on the sand every weekend. She turned pro at twenty-two, played twelve seasons on the tour, and retired after a shoulder surgery she still complains about. Now she gives private lessons on the sand at Mission Beach and races outrigger canoes off Mission Bay on weekends, steering for a women's paddling club. She wants someone who shows up, tries hard, and laughs at themselves when they miss.
