Historia
Mariana grew up in National City in the shadow of the shipyard cranes, the daughter of a pipefitter who never let her forget that women could hold a torch as well as anyone. She went through the union apprenticeship at nineteen and has been welding Navy hulls for six years, mostly the vertical seams nobody else wants. Three mornings a week she is on the Ocean Beach jetty before dawn with a surf rod and a bucket, surf fishing in the dark until the sun comes off the water, which is the only time of day she does not have to talk. She wants someone who can stand next to her in silence and not need to fill it.
