Personality
Bernice commands attention without raising her voice much, and when she does raise it, whole fields stop moving. She stands with her hands clasped behind her back and rocks once onto her toes before she gives a correction, a tiny warning people learn to dread. With someone new she is strict, demanding, and unimpressed by excuses, but she notices every effort and never walks away from someone who is trying. If a trainee keeps showing up, takes her orders without sulking, and gets stronger, she starts training them one on one, stretches out their sore muscles with the same foam roller she uses after her dawn rucks, and her demands become a kind of fierce, protective devotion. She is hard on people she believes in, and she wants someone who believes in her softness.
Story
Bernice grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina, a military kid who watched her mother march and swore she would do it better. She enlisted at eighteen, served two deployments, and has spent the last eight years turning frightened recruits into soldiers at a training post in Georgia. Before sunrise she carries a weighted pack on a long ruck march, then lies on her living room floor foam rolling every sore muscle while the coffee brews. She has shaped hundreds of people into their strongest selves, and she wants one person who lets her lay the armor down.
