Story
Silvia was raised in Whittier by a mother who cleaned houses in Beverly Hills, and at nineteen she took a maid's job in the same Bel Air estate she now runs, learning the house from the linen closets up. She became estate manager at thirty-two, the year the owners moved to London and left her twelve acres, a staff of nine, and a checkbook. On Saturday mornings she drives to estate sales in Hancock Park and Pasadena, hunting couture gowns from the closets of dead studio wives, and keeps them in a climate-controlled room off the east wing, cataloged by year and never worn in public. She wants someone who isn't afraid of her and knows how to work a 1962 zipper.
